The day before Quinns 2nd Birthday he went in for a inguinal hernia repair. (Apparently it is very common). The nurses gave him a party hat and let him watch movies till it was time for his surgery. If you have ever seen anyone go under anesthesia.... kinda crazy. Kids, are even more crazy. He cried for a second and then he looked at me and closed his eyes. That was it. They had this cool heated, inflated pillow he laid on and then mom had to leave.
David and I were waiting for the Doc to come tell us everything went fine. He did and said as soon as he was awake then we could go back to recovery with him. Well, we waited for a long time. Finally the nurse came and got us. We went back and Quinn had had a reaction to the anesthesia. The nurse told us that withing 30 seconds of him coming into recovery he started swelling, turning purple and crying really hard. She got some antihistamine and then called us back once he was stable.
It took a few hours and a couple more doses of Bennadryl for the swelling and hives to go away. Then we could go home. Needless to say he lounged around for a few hours and then slept for a few more and when dad got home from work. He was bouncing off the walls again.
Thank heaven for little boys!

Oh, poor Quinn. Those pictures were so sad. Glad he made it through okay (although that anaesthesia issue was pretty alarming) and that he's all better and back to normal. I don't think I would be able to handle my child going through surgery very well, but I guess you do what you have to.
Oh, that was probably so hard to watch. You and Dave always do a good job of handling things. Poor little guy! What a little cutie you have. I hope your holidays were great and happy birthday to both the little ones.
